The lobster caught by Alan Robinson in Dyer’s Bay is a typical mottled green on one side; the other side is a shade of orange that looks cooked. Robinson, of Steuben, donated the lobster to the Mount Desert Oceanarium. Staff members say the odds or finding a half-and-half lobster are 1 in 50 million to 100 million. The International Bird Rescue Research Center in Cordelia. Calif., plans to raise funds with the unusual duck X-ray, which they say shows the clear image of what appears to be the face, or head, of an extraterrestrial alien in the bird’s stomach. The center has come up with a way to turn its supposed alien encounter into a fundraiser for the center. It will auction off the X-ray on eBay. The image, which measures 17-by-14 inches, will be sold along with a certificate of authenticity. All proceeds will go toward funding the center’s rehabilitation programs. Brazil’s troubled flagship airline, Varig, is reeling under an estimated US$3.3 billion (euro2.7 billion) in debt and is currently in the restructuring phase of bankruptcy proceedings and, last April 12, some 300 Varig employees boarded a chartered jet to Brasilia, the nation’s capital, to call on the federal government to bail out the company, which employs 11,000 people.
