Do I need a FOIA request to access public information??

While in Los Angeles a couple weeks ago, I incidently parked on a side of a street that was going to be cleaned that day.  Lucky me, I was issued a ticket, in the rain.  Lovely.  Good news, it’s only $50.00 California Dollars, whereas if you are issued a ticket in DC, you’re looking at about $120-150.00 US Dollars per incident.  Also, hope you have all your taxes and registrations up-to-date otherwise you’ll be charged for that too.  Ask Doug.  As it turned out, there was a sign stating that I wasn’t supposed to park there, unfortunately, it was facing the houses.  How in the world can I know where to park when the signs are facing a different direction?  I rang up the LA parking people and they (in a very robotic-like way, told me ‘if there is a sign, you’re going to have to pay.’

Yay.

So I wanted to know the legal parameters regarding sign usage in Los Angeles.  Seems like this is harder than is should be (someone doesn’t want section codes googled).  Unfortunately/Fortunately, I ran across an interesting site that distracted me for a little while.  Maybe you’ll find it a helpful outlet for yourself too.

 Enjoy!
