Finally, some good news for America. We’ve finally won something! Since the Winter Games when Bode Miller was going to bring not only one gold medal but five. As fate has it, he produced nothing (granted, he was ambushed everywhere during the competition which may have had an effect on his performance.. even so, he still did not even place!) Germany ends up taking First Place. Then, there was another grand competition this year, the 2006 World Cup. The US barely made it, and it was a win on technicality instead of performance. All in all, it’s just disappointing that we couldn’t get a team that could work together seamlessly.
Now for the good news. America has kept the coveted Tour de France from the rest of the world for another year!! Congrats to Floyd Landis. Amid significant pain and discomfort, he was finally able to pull thru on the last leg of the race!
and finally, this weekend, Tiger Woods won the British Open!
“After the last putt, I realized my dad’s never going to see this again, and I wish he could have seen this one last time,” Woods said at the trophy presentation. “He was out there today keeping me calm. I had a very calm feeling the entire week, especially today.”
So, hopefully this is going to be a small ball rolling for more wins on the international level.
